I heard that there are going to be more than just the main 5 races announced. Is this true?

Well Gw2 is a long way off and they could scrap anything at anytime and create anything at anytime. Frankly who knows ?

during an interview with one of ncsoft reps, he disclosed that the release of the gw2 beta was scheduled for the second part of this year. I cant remember where I saw the video, but I'll post it later.
I'm assuming that GW2 is not that far.

I would recommend just going to the GW2 wiki, all that is known can be seen there.

Yeah, the official wiki is the best source of information as of yet. Anything that didn't come directly from anet should be assumed a rumor.
